Franklin Lakes Superintendent Resigns

Frank Romano's resignation was accepted by the Franklin Lakes Board of Education on Tuesday evening.

The Franklin Lakes Board of Educations accepted the resignation of Superintendent Frank Romano, effective June 30, 2014 on Tuesday evening.

Richard Koenigsberg is one of the longest tenured members of the Board of Education and he believes allowing Romano to resign will be a negative for the district.

“In my opinion [Romano’s] decision to resign will be a loss for this district," said Koenigsberg. “[Romano’s] efforts in Franklin Lakes will always prove to be successful in years to come. I know he will continue his great efforts on behalf of our children everyday because that’s the kind of professional he is.”

Romano started as the K-8 district superintendent in July of 2010 on a 4-year contract that paid him $189,000 annually. He will depart at the end of said contract.

Romano was not immediately able to make any statements but he is expected to do so in the very near future. Check back with Patch for more.
