To the Editor: What can we say? Wow, what a weekend for our family the Buddy Walk and The TD for Billy. What a town and community! What a life lesson for our kids and the community. That is the gift of Billy. He came to us for a reason. Because of him, we have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people and got to experience so many inspiring moments. Because of him, our family has been supported and embraced by the community.  A special thanks to: Andy Wingfield, Keith Woetzel, Richie Ray, John Amodeo, Mark Hess, Frank Brantley, Roger Schnorrbusch, Jeff Kreagan and Dean Vellis for planting the seed, taking Billy under their wing and making this happen. Rotary Donates $1,000 to Buddy Walk [Photo]

The 8th Annual Buddy Walk will kick off, rain or shine, at the Wyckoff YMCA on Saturday, Oct. 13

Wyckoff/Midland Park Rotary President Andy Garlic presents Christine Hourihan, president of the Northern NJ Down Syndrome Alliance, with a check for $1,000 to kick off the 8th Annual Buddy Walk which takes place at the Wyckoff YMCA on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m.   Registration begins at 10 a.m. at 691 Wyckoff Ave across from St. Elizabeth’s Church. The Wyckoff/Midland Park Rotary supports the Buddy Walk and is involved in many other local as well as international programs which benefit challenged populations of all ages and cultures. 5 Things about the fundraiser for families with children affected by Down Syndrome

The seventh annual Buddy Walk is scheduled for this Saturday at the Wyckoff YMCA. Each year, area residents gather to support local families affected by Down Syndrome and raise awareness of the condition. Last year, nearly 1,500 volunteers participated. Money from the event goes to the Billy's Buddies program at the YMCA, an organization which is both a support group for families whose children have Down Syndrome and also strives to create acceptance of those with the condition. They hold regular events for the families to help with a variety of issues that arise when raising a child with Down Syndrome. Saturday's event begins with registration at 10 a.m. and the one-mile walk begins at 11. There will also be other family activities, …
