More than 3,000 people showed up to the township's third annual Wyckoff Day celebration Saturday, and judging by the smiling faces in the crowd and what some of the festival's organizers had to say, it will not be soon forgotten. “Wyckoff Day was a great success. The turnout was fantastic, and the day truly exemplified our community spirit and pride," said Wyckoff Mayor Chris DePhillips. "There was something for everyone at Wyckoff Day, and all the feedback I have received from attendees has been positive. The following call to arms was submitted to Wyckoff Patch by the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce: The Wyckoff Chamber Of Commerce will be having the fist annual Chili cook-off this Saturday at the YMCA's Wyckoff Day event. We are in need of volunteers to man the table selling tickets to the chili contest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. An hour or so volunteered from a few people would be very helpful to this new event. Come and vote for your favorite chili at the first annual Wyckoff Day Chili Cook-Off event, which begins at noon and runs through 4 p.m. at the Wyckoff Family Y on Saturday, June 9. Organized by the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce, proceeds will benefit the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department and the Ambulance Corps. Winners will be selected for the People’s Choice Award and the Judge’s Award. Businesses are asked to bring their best chili to share with the community. Winners will receive bragging rights along with a plaque for each category. It's going to be an extra hot day in Wyckoff. The Wyckoff Family YMCA and the Wyckoff Day Committee are excited to be planning the third annual Wyckoff Day, scheduled for Saturday, June 9, from noon to 6 p.m. The committee is made up of Y staff and community volunteers including 3 Chicas owner Lee Parker, Wyckoff Mayor Chris DePhillips, Blue Moon owner Howie Felixbrod, Kathy Scarpelli, Kris Pepper, Dottie Van Der Horn, Jay Vidockler, Wyckoff YMCA Executive Director Joy Vottero and many more. Pepper, who also serves as YMCA public relations director, said the team's vision for the fun-filled day includes live music, delicious food, a vendor village, and children’s rides, family friendly games and activities for all ages, culminating in a performance by the Dave Fields Band.
