Township Mulls Pay-to-Play Grass Collection
Wyckoff committeemen say residents have written to town hall complaining about the suspension of town-wide grass clipping removal.
The Wyckoff Township Committee is considering giving residents here an option to pay for curbside removal of grass clippings less than a dozen weeks after the governing body elected to excise the costly service that only 15 percent of citizens were using. Committeeman Brian Scanlan initiated a discussion with his fellow committeemen at a public meeting Tuesday night, spurred on by notes from several residents displeased with the committee's decision last year. Scanlan's proposal was to gauge interest in a pay-to-play program in which residents ponied up $150 to cover the cost for the township's existing garbage disposal company to cart away grass clippings and then dispose of them.
