'Big Read' Wraps up with Movie, Murder Mystery

The Wyckoff Public Library will host the final events on Thursday, Nov. 15 and Friday, Nov. 16.

The following information was submitted by Wyckoff Public Library Director Mary Witherell: Just restored to power after a ten-day blackout caused by Hurricane Sandy, Wyckoff Public Library resumes its Big Read celebration of Edgar Allan Poe with two back-to-back events that reflect his founding  role on both the horror and mystery genres on Thursday, Nov. 15 and Friday, Nov. 16. Poe was the master of the horror story, and his subject matter of live burial, revenge, nervous collapse and compulsion has inspired scores of artists to create works on similar themes. Flash Mob, Filmmaker's Competition Coming to Library's Big Read

Nascent theater group "Great Heights Performing Arts Lab" hopes to spark creativity at Wyckoff Public Library's big Poe-fest

This year's Big Read program just got a lot more exciting. The Wyckoff Public Library has hired The Great Heights Performing Arts Lab to create a flash mob, and a young film maker's competition.   The flash mob will be choreographed and organized by Jamie Sporn, co-artistic director of the theater company, and submissions for the film competition are due on October 15th. Co-Artistic Director Jonathan Samarro will steer the film competition; the selected entrees will be shown in the library at 7 p.m. on November 3.
