Alexander Patterson, 87, died Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff. Patterson was born in Paterson, and was a Wyckoff resident from 1960 until his death. He served on the Wyckoff Township Committee, including two terms as mayor. He also served as chairman of the Board of Directors of AAA North Jersey, according to his obituary. The Wyckoff Township Committee honored him at a public meeting Tuesday night with a moment of silence. Patterson was also the treasurer for Senator Henry McNamara and chairman of the board of the North West Bergen Utilities Authority. Leona J. Dornbush, age 90, wife of the late Henry J. Dornbush and former long-time resident of Wyckoff, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6. She is survived by her children: John H. Dornbush of Brick, Gary F. Dornbush of Simsbury, Conn., and Marianne Rahme of Kennett Square, Pa. She is also survived by grandchildren Kelly Austin of Harleysville, Pa., Matthew Dornbush of Glen Rock, and Michelle Dornbush of Shelton, Conn.; and great grandchildren Shane, Brody and Ellie. A private memorial service will be held in the spring. Donations can be made to Willow Tree Hospice, Kennett Square, Pa., or the Alzheimer’s Association. Charles Cole, who served as a committeeman, mayor, and was a revered firefighter in the town of Wyckoff, died Saturday at the age of 81. Cole was born in New York and lived in Louisiana before moving to Wyckoff in 1956, according to his obituary. He graduated from Ridley College in Ontario, Canada, in 1949 and Hamilton College in New York, in 1953. He worked for Verizon in New York City for 37 years. Cole's family, as well as officials in Wyckoff, praised the longtime resident on Monday for his dedication and service to the community. Ford Models appeared in Cosmopolitan and other magazines during two decade modeling career
Doris Van Schoyck, 90, a long-time Franklin Lakes resident who rose to the pinnacle of modeling during the 1940s and 50s, died on December 10. Van Schoyck achieved stardom as a model after signing with the world famous Ford Models, and donned a leotard in 1943 for the cover of Life Magazine. She also appeared in Cosmopolitan, Ladies Home Journal and other magazines, and starred in an ad campaign for Camay soap. Those who knew her said that Doris was a fashion icon, one who was unafraid of baring more than what was customary for the time. The covergirl shifted gears after he modeling career wound down, and pursued her interest in designing handbags, a love was sparked by her late husband, Roger Van Schoyck. Roger died in 2007.
