Fundraiser at the Wyckoff restaurant on Jan. 16 and 17
Locals will have the opportunity to help Frank Chamberlin in his fight against cancer at an event at Blue Moon later this month. Wyckoff resident Kristen Marino contacted Blue Moon recently about hosting the fundraiser. On Jan. 16 and 17, 20 percent of customers' bills will be donated to "Fight for Frank" if they bring in the flier attached to this story, Marino said Friday. Chamberlin, a Wyckoff resident and former NFL player, suffered a seizure last year when he was 24 and collapsed at work. He was diagnosed with anaplastic astrocytoma (grade 3 glioma), a severe form of brain cancer. Chamberlin underwent surgery that partially removed the tumor, but was left with ongoing seizures and significant speech impairment. 'Fight for Frank' was …

Frank Chamberlin played football for Mahwah High School, Boston College and in the NFL. The 34-year-old Wyckoff resident has been diagnosed with brain cancer.
If you’ve been to an area coffee shop, checked the Facebook status updates of your friends, or belong to local groups, you have likely been asked to ‘Fight for Frank.’ The organization was set up by a group of locals to help Wyckoff resident Frank Chamberlin, who friends say was the picture of fitness and health. Chamberlin played football at Mahwah High School, and upon his 1996 graduation went on to play for Boston College, and for five years in the NFL – for the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans. Since his football days, Chamberlin has been working for KBW, a financial services firm in Manhattan. In January, Chamberlin, 34, suffered a seizure and collapsed at work. He was diagnosed with anaplastic astrocytoma (…

Reports say suspended Sean Payton asked former Giants coach to fill in
New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton has asked former Jets and Giants coach Bill Parcells to coach in Payton's place while he serves a one-year suspension, ESPN reports. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced March 21 that Payton would miss the year after the league found that the Saints created a bounty program encouraging players to injure opponents. Payton and Parcells plan to meet this week in Florida, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports said on Twitter. Parcells turns 71 this August. He hasn't coached since 2006, after a four-year stay with the Dallas Cowboys. Taking the Saints job may negate Parcells' eligibility for the Hall of Fame, since candidates must be retired five years. Before Parcells entered the discussion, the Saints had …

Let the Tebowmania begin! The highly-praised but heavily-scrutinized quarterback will be suiting up in green and white next season after being traded Wednesday to the New York Jets for two draft picks. The announcement Tuesday that former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning had officially signed with the Denver Broncos not only made the Broncos an immediate playoff contender, it also meant media darling Tim Tebow was out of a starting job. No longer the starter, rumors began to fly Tuesday night that Tebow would be traded, with the Jets considered a possible desintation. On Wednesday, FOXSports' Jay Glazer broke the news on Twitter that Tebow had in fact been traded to the New York Jets for a fourth-round pick in this year's …

Westwood High star anchored defensive line for NFC champs
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Not since William “The Refrigerator” Perry has a football player with an appliance for a nickname grabbed the glamour of playing in the Super Bowl. On the 25th anniversary of the Chicago Bears' victory in Super Bowl XX, Green Bay’s B.J. Raji, who also competes in the NFC North and is nicknamed “The Freezer,” has become somewhat of a household fixture in Green Bay since being drafted by the Packers two years ago. The Washington Township native is a monstrous 337-pound nose tackle that captured the hearts of football faithful with his 18-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Bears in the NFC Championship two weeks ago. The feat made him the only defensive lineman in franchise history to run back a post-…
