Cancer Claims Life of Wyckoff Resident Mike O'Shea

Michael O'Shea was a DEA agent and served more than two years as a patrolman with the Glen Rock Police Department.

A Wyckoff resident and former Glen Rock police officer died Saturday morning after a valiant fight with cancer, the department said. Michael O'Shea, 44, was a husband and father of three young children. O'Shea was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia last year. He underwent aggressive treatment, including chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. A William Paterson University graduate, O'Shea began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department in 1996, receiving numerous meritorious service commendations. He returned to his former home of Glen Rock in 2003 and left in June of 2005 to accept a position as a federal DEA agent. Blood Drive to Benefit Wyckoff's Mike O'Shea

The father of three was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia in March

The Wyckoff Family YMCA is hosting a blood drive in honor of Wyckoff resident Mike O’Shea on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  "Mike, a husband and father of three young children, was diagnosed in March 2012 with acute myelogenous leukemia," according to Wyckoff YMCA Sports Director Pat O'Hagan.  Following an aggressive cycle of chemotherapy, Mike underwent a stem cell transplant on June 28, he said.  The donor was found through the National Marrow Donor Program and, although the transplant was initially successful, after several months of recovery Mike started experiencing fevers and back pain, O'Hagan said.
