An outstanding group of Eisenhower students and graduates continues to go above and beyond to help support others in need. The art show fundraiser is tonight at 7 p.m.
The Mad4Kids Club is holding an art and vendor night at Eisenhower Middle School tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mad4Kids is a school-based group dedicated to raising money for charity. Admission is $5 and those in attendance will receive Mad4Kids wristbands. The group meets weekly and with Eisenhower teacher Lori Ebanetti but it is the students who started the group and maintain its operation. Mad4Kids was started by a handful of Eisenhower students looking to complete a project but now about 50 students are involved with the club. “This all started with a project that was basically ‘how can you change the world and leave a legacy,’” said Ebanetti. “I have a sophomore who is my treasurer. The kids will confirm the vendors and collect a check …

A school-based group dedicated to raising money for charity has announced its 2013 fundraiser and beneficiaries. MAD4kids has chosen April 25 as the date for this year's event to raise money for Girl Up and Liters of Light. The group, which meets weekly in teacher Lori Ebanetti's Eisenhower Middle School classroom, is responsible for everything the group does: setting it's own goals, publicity, graphic design, finding sponsors, publishing literature on the event. This year's event is scheduled to take place on April 25 at Eisenhower Middle School from 7 to 8:30 p.m. If you'd like …

Local battle of the bands champ Fourshadows and MAD4kids are teaming up for a Sandy Relief benefit concert on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Brick House. The fundraiser will include food donated by the Wyckoff restaurant and entertainment provided by the reigning Ramapo High School BotB Champs. Fourshadows' guitarist/vocalist Jeremy Zucker said the band has been trying to play out as much as possible, but after Hurricane Sandy crushed the tri-state area a benefit concert just seemed like the perfect thing to do. "Living in an area that was so largely affected by the storm and hearing terrifying stories of the destruction in other areas, it is hard not to help out in some way," Jeremy said. "We felt the benefit would be a great way…

Students working hard to find sponsors for charity event
In the nail-biting final hours before the first guests were scheduled to arrive, the young women who had organized last year's "Girls Night Out" event sat on the stage facing out toward the product of weeks of trial-by-fire hard work and planning. "It was just like, 'Oh my gosh, we did this,'" remembers Abby Shulman, now 14. "We didn't know we could do it by ourselves. It felt really good." Now, the organizers of Girls Night Out — Kaela Wong, Valerie Kologrivov, Alexa Brewster, Kelly McCauley and Abby Shulman — and a group of dedicated and creative middle schoolers have expanded that project into MAD4kids. MAD4kids will be holding a fundraiser for Girl Up and Invisible Children on April 26, which will have an ad book and include vendors, …
