'Les Paul Trio' Member Performs In Late Inventor's Honor [Videos]

For an intimate crowd of about 35 guitar enthusiasts Tuesday night, jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli performed in memory of his old friend, late Mahwah resident Les Paul. As part of a calendar of special events going on at the Mahwah Museum in honor of its ‘Les Paul in Mahwah’ exhibit, Pizzarelli, who performed with Paul in the Les Paul Trio, played guitar with one of his current collaborators, Wyckoff resident Ed Laub, and shared stories and memories with the audience. “I think [this exhibit] is sensational,” Pizzarelli said as he walked through the museum’s displays before his performance. "Les was a giant of a guitar player, and the things he did can never be duplicated by anyone.” The two musicians were friends for “a real long time,” …

Win Les Paul's Guitar

Devon Fine Jewelry is raffling the legend's instrument to benefit the Mahwah Museum

Devon Fine Jewelry in Wyckoff is currently selling raffle tickets for an Epiphone guitar that was owned and played by guitar legend Les Paul. Paul, who lived in Mahwah, was a skilled guitarist who played across multiple genres and developed the solid-body electric guitar design, as well as a number of recording and engineering techniques. The guitar is signed by Paul himself and the two other members of the Les Paul Trio, Lou Pallo and Gary Mazzaroppi. Paul played the guitar at Fat Tuesday in New York during the 1980s.  The guitar is valued at $3,000. Tickets cost $25 each and are limited to 500. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Mahwah Museum, which will be holding a Les Paul exhibit at the time of the raffle drawing on September …
