To the Editor: Kevin Rooney and Haakon Jepsen are the 2 Republican candidates for Wyckoff Township Committee who bring a positive and constructive approach with independent thinking! Since being elected in 2009, we have witnessed Kevin’s tireless efforts and care of all neighbors in Wyckoff, especially during the storms in 2010 and last year in the aftermath of Irene and the Halloween snow. Kevin pitched in and worked through the night and weekend with our DPW and emergency responders. Last fall, he coordinated the removal of all the downed tree limb throughout town. As finance chair, he is focused on doing more with less and championed an austere budget with less than a 1% increase ($33 to the average homeowner). His leadership is …

I am proud to support the Rooney-Jepsen Republican Team for Wyckoff Township Committee. As a lifelong resident of Wyckoff, I have seen first hand the changes that have taken place over the years. While Wyckoff has grown from a sleepy farm town, it has grown with conservative leadership. Wyckoff enjoys the best in schools for our children; we have some of the lowest property taxes in the area while still keeping our property values higher than surrounding areas. Since November 3, 2009, when I voted for Kevin Rooney and the promise of increased transparency, a dedicated platform focused on what has made Wyckoff such a special place to grow up, Kevin Rooney has kept his campaign promise on making it a reality. Kevin’s hard work and proven …

Dear Editor, It would be my honor to write a letter of support to re-elect Kevin Rooney and elect Haakon Jepsen for Township Committee on November 6th. This Rooney-Jepsen team is compassionate about doing what is best for the citizens of Wyckoff. I personally know Kevin and his family and know their moral values and devotion to the town of Wyckoff. Throughout the past 3 years of Kevin being on the Township Committee, I have seen drastic improvements in the town we all love. Kevin has kept the town of Wyckoff a place where mothers like me want to raise their children. I have full trust in him that he will do the same if re-elected. Kevin is dedicated to keeping the small town charm of Wyckoff and keeping property taxes low, which is the …

Dear Editor: It will be my pleasure on November 6th to cast my vote to re-elect Kevin Rooney and elect Haakon Jepsen for Township Committee. The Rooney-Jepsen team cares about the issues that matter most to our community. Over the past three years as a member of the Wyckoff Township Committee, Kevin’s devotion and care for all Wyckoff residents shined brightly. As our mayor in 2011 he made the hard decisions on what was best for the entire community. This year as the finance committee chairman, he was recognized by his peers on the Township Committee for his forward out of the box thinking. The 2012 municipal budget [growth] of less than 1 percent was recognized by Mayor Chris DePhillips as lowest in Northwest Bergen and Committeeman …

To Whom It May Concern: In our country's current political landscape, the Republican Party is the party about creating equality of opportunity while the Democratic Party is about creating equality of outcomes. The latter philosophy has never worked in the history of the world: for instance, the Soviet Union, Cuba, Greece, and the list could go on. Barack Obama is now at the head of a party that has adopted his idea of spreading the wealth around, a party of redistribution. As a town full of hard working people, this should absolutely terrify you. Having had the privilege of growing up in a wonderful town like Wyckoff, I felt like Marco Rubio was talking to me about my grandparents and parents when he said, "In America, we are all just a …

Republican candidates for Wyckoff Township Committee Kevin Rooney and Haakon Jepsen will host a "Meet the Candidates Night" on Oct. 9, at Wyckoff Public Library from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The event will be an informal event at which local residents can chat with the candidates, according to Committeeman Rooney. Rooney also announced Sunday that Board of Education Candidate John Carolan would join himself and Jepsen at the meet and greet. Rooney and Jepsen, along with Democrat Eileen Avia, are running for two seats on the township committee; the seats of Rooney and current mayor Chris DePhillips are up for grabs this year. Local elections this year include the pair of committee seats, as well as two seats on the Wyckoff Public Schools Board of …

Dear Editor, I am writing this letter of support for the Republican team of Kevin Rooney and Haakon Jepsen for Wyckoff Township Committee. My roots are deeply planted in this town, my family has lived in Wyckoff for four generations and my husband and I are blessed to be raising our fifth generation children here. I have known Kevin Rooney for many years and I admire his dedication to Wyckoff and his commitment to serving Wyckoff residents. Over the past two decades, Kevin has volunteered his service to Wyckoff in a variety of ways, currently as a member of the Township Committee, and serving one of those years as our mayor. Kevin’s fiscally conservative approach this year as finance chairman has again kept our municipal taxes lower than …

To The Editor, I am writing in support of the Republican Team of Rooney and Jepsen for Wyckoff Township Committee. I grew up in Wyckoff and have seen this town evolve over the last 30 years. I remember playing my first little league game at Washington School and riding my bike to the baseball card store to trade the latest rookie cards. I loved my childhood in Wyckoff so much that I worked very hard to establish my family here. Three years ago, my wife Marcela and I moved our family to Wyckoff and are now raising three children on Martom Road. As many young parents know, your everyday decisions revolve around your kids and their future. I take great comfort in the qualities of Haakon as a father with small children and his desire to …

Dear Editor: I am writing this letter of support for Kevin Rooney and Haakon Jepsen for Wyckoff Township Committee. I have lived in Wyckoff all of my life and been honored to be involved as a Township of Wyckoff Company 3 volunteer fireman for the past 25 years. As a volunteer firefighter I know first hand what sacrifices one must make to give yourself and family. Over the past three years, Kevin has served our township with compassion and dedication representing all residents as a Committeeman, Deputy Mayor and Mayor. Kevin’s proven leadership in times of need became first evident when he was first elected. In early March 2010, a devastating snow and windstorm left our town without power and Kevin kept the pressure on the power companies …
