To The Editor: I would like to thank the residents of Wyckoff for the trust you have placed in me to represent you on the School Board. Please know that I will work hard on your behalf and do my part to ensure we continue to have a great education system for students, teachers and our community. I would also like to thank the candidates who participated in this year’s Board of Education election. It demonstrates that a strong spirit of volunteerism and community are alive and well in Wyckoff when such qualified candidates compete for positions to serve our children and the residents of our great town. I am filled with excitement to begin working on behalf of our schools and plan to spend the next two months speaking with many members of …

Dear Editor: It is a sincere pleasure to write a few words about incumbent candidate Chris Della Pietra and John Carolan, who are running for seats on the Wyckoff Board of Education. As a fellow board member, I have worked closely with Chris on the Finance Committee for more than a year now. I am most impressed with his ability to identify a problem, consider [an] alternative approach for addressing it, and then make the right decision for the benefit of the school system. He puts the required time into being prepared for meetings and attending them. His role as a board member is clearly a priority in his life. Chris deserves the opportunity to continue to serve the Wyckoff educational community. He is an asset that we do not want to …

Candidates gave their opinions on taxes, technology and professional development
More than 70 residents drove through wind and rain Monday night to hear arguments from the four candidates competing for two seats on the Wyckoff Board of Education. After a brief introduction by each candidate, PTO Coordinating Council President Suzanne Anderson began a question and answer period using questions generated by the audience. Questions were written on index cards and collected by PTO Presidents earlier in the evening and candidates were given 90 seconds to respond. All four candidates were in agreement with the importance of providing the best education possible for each of the township's public schools. Kathy Bowers, a 19-year veteran of the Wyckoff Schools said that along with her insights as a parent, teacher and long-time…

Dear Editor, Our family supports John Carolan for Wyckoff School Board in this November’s election. My wife Lisa and I have come to know John and his family since they moved here in 2008. We are impressed by John Carolan’s character and intellect as well as he and his family’s support of school activities and fund raisers. John Carolan strongly supports education. Like us, his family chose to raise children in Wyckoff because of the strong families and excellent schools in our town. As taxpayers, we support the goal of delivering a quality education for all of our students at a reasonable cost, as well as complying with the NJ State law of annual budget growth. We believe that John can apply his keen intellect and business experience to …

Dear Neighbors, My name is John Carolan and I am seeking your support in the election for the Wyckoff Board of Education. I am well-positioned to balance our very strong academic standards with the current realities faced by all taxpayers. We are fortunate in Wyckoff to have an outstanding and award winning program that makes our community a highly desirable place to raise a family. In fact, the school system was the main reason my wife and I chose Wyckoff as our home, and we have two children in the school system. I’m also a taxpayer, however, and I understand that we all have budgets we must work within. Our recent economic challenges have been stressful on many of our residents, especially our seniors who live on fixed incomes. Wyckoff…

To the Editor, We are pleased to support the election of John A. Carolan to the Wyckoff School Board. We have known John and his family for the past 12 years and share many of the same values with them, centered on the importance of family and our appreciation for the quality of life from living in Wyckoff. John is a results-driven individual who is fully committed to any project he takes on. John tackles issues by combining strong principles with a pragmatic approach. He has been a successful employee at the company he has worked at for over 23 years. He is a father with two children in the schools system, and we know that John will apply his personal attention along with his business skills to his efforts on the board of education. He …
