The Great Gingerbread Zabriskie — a deliciously fastidious facsimilie of the Van Voorhees Quackenbush Zabriskie House — was on display recently for all to see at the 18th century historic home's open house on Dec. 8. But now, Barbara Petruccelli is using her crafty replica to leverage some cash for the real thing. "This beautiful landmark relies on donations for its upkeep and is unable to do some of these due to lack of funds," Petruccelli said. "I will give this gingerbread on Dec. 18th to the person who makes the highest offer and I will donate all proceeds to the John & Grace Zabriskie Memorial Fund." 'Cooks for a Cure' is fighting breast cancer — and remembering those who've fought — one recipe at a time
A group of women with a common desire to give back has developed a unique, community-based fundraising project that benefits breast cancer awareness, education, and research. The project — '074ATE1: Cooks For A Cure' — is a cookbook composed entirely of submissions by local Epicureans and dedicated to victims and survivors of breast cancer. Lynn Murphy heads the group, which recently began as a spin-off of the popular "Wyckoff Moms" Facebook page. And, the rest of the area also knows what drives at least President Barack Obama's second-in-command: a motorcade from Newark Liberty International Airport. It was from the airport that Biden was transported late Monday afternoon to the Morris Township home of Sellinger and his wife, Barbara, for a Democratic Party fundraiser in support of Menendez's re-election campaign, where the vice president was a guest of honor. The cost per ticket to this invitation-only event? One thousand dollars, according to the news media pool report provided by Matt Friedman of The Star-Ledger, the only member of the press allowed into the fundraiser (under the…
