Christine Laquidara withdrew her acceptance as Woodside principal, calling the career move a potential 'risk.'
Christine Laquidara feared for her future with the Franklin Lakes School District when she withdrew her acceptance of the principal position at Woodside Avenue School last week, she said in an interview Monday. “Based on the discussions and actions take by the Franklin Lakes Board of Education recently, I am not confident the commitment or loyalty would be reciprocated,” said Laquidara. “I can not take that risk.” The Franklin Lakes School Board voted to cut ties with Director of Curriculum Cheryl Best and accpeted the resignation of Superintendent Frank Romano on Tuesday, April 30. Laquidara said that while she expects the board of education in any school district to hold their administration accountable, it should remain supportive. “…

The Woodside principal job has been vacant since August 2012, when Dominick Rotante resigned from the post.
School officials have once again convened a search for a principal for Woodside Avenue School in Franklin Lakes. The process will get underway in earnest on March 5 when, according to District Superintendent Frank Romano, a committee of ten will meet and process eight candidates for interviews. "I have re-engaged the folks who participated in the various steps of Round One of the search, asking them to play the same roles in Round Two, since they have been so effective, so close to the work, and so deserving of the opportunity to play their parts in finding the right person for the job," Romano said. "With the exception of parent representative Mr. Michael Cardaci, who must attend to professional commitments, all will return." Cardaci …

Dominick Rotante claims Franklin Lakes School District Superintendent Frank Romano pushed him out of his job because of a personal vendetta.
A Franklin Lakes principal who unexpectedly "resigned" last August is going on the offensive to get his job back. A lawsuit was filed with Bergen County Superior Court on Friday, Oct. 26, on behalf of former Woodside Avenue School Principal Dominick Rotante, who stepped down abruptly just weeks before the start of the school year in August. In a statement released Sunday, Rotante said the end of his eight year career in Franklin Lakes was the result of a personal vendetta waged against him by Superintendent of Schools Frank Romano, who was hired by the school district in 2010. “I achieved a record of excellence, one that I’m very proud of and one that was impeccable until the day Mr. Romano arrived with an agenda that included getting …

Its all very simple. We get the government we deserve. Like it or not the town voted the BOE members in. It is really sad that given all of the polarizing views that the BOE chose to impose rather then listen. Something tells me the town will take the next election more seriously. Hopefully it wont be too late.   more ›
