Ramapo Fencing Slashes Fair Lawn 23-4
The team moves to a league record of 1-0, and an overall dual record of 2-0
The following sports report was submitted by Ramapo Fencing Coach Paul Apostol: Ramapo fencers continued to fence powerfully, downing Fair Lawn in their first Bergen-Passaic League meet 23-4 (14-2) on Monday. Ramapo starters cruised to a 9-0 record allowing extensive substitutions so that 24 fencers each fenced at least one bout. Substitutes replaced all 9 starters and produced an impressive 7-2 record and clinched the meet at 14-2. Not to be outdone, Ramapo’s third string also went 7-2. Ramapo’s much improved epee squad produced an 8-1 record, fueled by a first round clean sweep by starters senior Sam Judd, who dominated his opponent in a 5-0 bout, senior Scott Zellers and junior Michael Daly, who both fenced strongly.
