Brief: Bicyclist Broke Thumb After Being Struck by Car

Oakland woman driving the car was not issued any summonses

A Wyckoff resident biking down Clinton Avenue was clipped by the mirror of a passing car Monday evening, sending the woman to the hospital with a broken thumb, police said. The 48-year-old Wyckoff woman was biking west on Clinton Avenue just before 5:30 p.m. when a 2005 Chrysler passed just a bit too close, according to a report by Wyckoff Police. The passenger side mirror of the car struck the handlebar of the bike, breaking the womans thumb. The bicyclist was transported to Valley Hospital for treatment. Police didn't issue any summonses to the 58-year-old Oakland woman driving the Chrysler, according to Police Chief Benjamin Fox.
