Trainer Brings Road Experience to the Y

After Hurricane Sandy forced New York City to cancel its marathon, Bryan McDonnell, 27, refused to let all that hard training go to waste.

Bryan McDonnell has probably run the round-trip distance from Wyckoff to Orlando, Florida, over the past year while training for the New York City Marathon. When the race was canceled due to the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, he was determined not to let the 2300 training miles he logged throughout the year go to waste, so he registered for the Harrisburg Marathon in Harrisburg, Pa., on Nov. 11. An accomplished marathoner, and triathlete, the 27 year old has participated in five marathons and over 50 triathlons since the age of 18 and has also completed the Ironman Canada in 10:32.  Although the scenery and fan base in Harrisburg was quite different than he would have found in New York, McDonnell managed to run a personal best of 2:46, …

Run Supporting Wyckoff Schools Kicks Off Saturday

The event will feature a certified 5K race, a one mile Family Fun Run/Walk, and politicians in the dunk tank

The Wyckoff Education Foundation will host its annual 5K Run & 1 mile Family Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. at Eisenhower Middle School. The event will feature a certified 5K race beginning at 10 a.m. with a one mile Family Fun Run/Walk at 11 a.m., according to WEF Public Relations Chair Brian Benedik. Anyone looking to participate can register online through Friday. Walk up registrations will also be accepted on the day of the event up until race time. Race participant fees are $25 or $20 for USATF Members. Family Fun Run/Walk fees are $15 for adults and $10 for children with a $45 family maximum. After the one mile event, prizes will be distributed to winners during an Awards Ceremony with a Family Fun Zone party to follow…

To the Editor, In October there is a great opportunity to get your business seen by hundreds of local families. The Wyckoff Education Foundation or WEF is holding it's annual 5K Run and 1 Mile Family Fun Walk\Run and Carnival on October 20th! This is an event that is near and dear to the parents and kids of Wyckoff and we are looking for sponsors. I am a WEF trustee but also a business owner in town. I have always seen huge results from getting involved in events like these. Not only is it good for business but it is a very worthy cause! WEF is a foundation started and run by parents to enhance the educational possibilities in the Wyckoff school district.
