3 Chicas Hosting 074ATE1 Community Fundraiser

Stop by the Wyckoff Avenue Mexican restaurant on Wednesday to help raise money for the local breast cancer awareness group.

The successful 074ATE1 fundraising organization is partnering with 3 Chicas Mexican Kitchen to help raise money in the fight against breast cancer. The all-day event was originally scheduled for Oct. 29, but Hurricane Sandy, downed trees and power outages forced the two groups to postpone the event until this week. "Anyone coming in to support the event can bring in the flyer that's on the 074ATE1 page on Facebook or can just let us know and [I'll be] donating 20 percent back to the cause," said 3 Chicas owner Lee Parker. Call 3 Chicas at 201-848-4700 or email 074ATE1 at the074ate1cooks@yahoo.com for more information. Have a question or news tip? Contact editor Joseph M. Local Faces: Carla Pappalardo

Executive producer, lawyer, Chicago native

Part lawyer, part theater afficianado Carla Pappalardo is a dedicated volunteer who's taken her skills on the road as the executive producer of this year’s FLOW Follies performance of "Come Flow With Me." Pappalardo has been busy memorizing her lines for the upcoming performances at Indian Hills High School. I love the arts: a trip into New York City to see a Broadway Show or a funky production found in a small downtown theater. There's always something wonderful about seeing a live performance. My daughter is a member of Dance Theater of New Jersey and I've been involved with their performances and competitions and of course the community performance of FLOW Follies. My son and daughter attended the Wyckoff schools, and now they're at …

Local Faces: Uma Taneja

Learn something new about your neighbors.

Dr. Uma Taneja loves children, she spends her day caring for their health and well being as a pediatrician at Pedimedica Pediatrics in Oakland. When not diagnosing a childhood illness, the mother of a fifth grade son and third grade daughter can be found volunteering at Calvin Coolidge Elementary School. Naturally I love Indian food. My favorite restaurant for authentic cuisine is Tandoori Chef in Hackensack. My family favorites for dining are Sakura for the sushi and 3 Chicas for Mexican. Both owners live in town and are generous to the community — I like to show my appreciation by patronizing their restaurants. My son also loves the food at Bourbon BBQ. When I meet my husband for dinner in Manhattan we go to The Palm or Del Frisco’s. I …

Local Faces: Vicky Li

Learn something new about your neighbors.

Vicky Li runs Sakura in Wyckoff with her husband Kenny. The mother of two juggles the responsibilities of raising sons with a warm smile, supporting local school groups and running a busy restaurant. I love salmon especially salmon sashimi, it's so healthy and delicious. It is hard to get away from the restaurant when you are open 7 days a week but when I get some time I head over to Chinatown in NYC. There are so many restaurants serving authentic cuisine. I also love the Mexican salad at 3 Chicas. I don’t have much free time but I do enjoy going to the movies with my sons or spending time with family. For “me time" I head to Parisi’s for a workout. We travel to China every other year. Both my children are fluent and it gives them a …
