Dickie also can't stand not seeing his name in the paper once a week, so he'll be "for" orRead More "against" something just for the sake of issuing a press release. Sending out a camera crew to interview him just enables him further. Forty years and counting. He's the poster child for Term Limits.

the only difference I see between Codey and Christie is that one is wearing an orange cone and theRead More other one is still renting them out at will - regardless, the longer Julie Herrman remains at Rutgers, the longer Rutgers's integrity is going to be under a public cloud

Remember the Swine flu? Avian flu? Avian Flu 2? Nothing ever happened. These are scare tactics byRead More big Pharma to sell more and more drugs. Ask your doctor if your ready for Celestia or whatever is being pushed on TV this week. If I have to ask my doctor if I'm ready for 'X' drug I've got the wrong doctor.
Rick April 20, 2014 at 01:35 am
Right John. Watch the commercial for the drug du jour. Fifteen seconds of how wonderful the productRead More is and 45 seconds of side effects which are usually worse than whatever it was you had in the first place.
John Santaella April 20, 2014 at 07:45 am
I often wonder why anyone would want to use any of these products. It often seems the cure is worseRead More than the disease. The ones I love are the ones for mental problems. They only work in 1/3 of the patients. 60% is passing in school yet in these 30% is acceptable. But ask your doctor if ''X'' is right for you. What's happened to our society? And, why do they use young people to advertise Viagra? I'm laughing right now but it's not funny.

While the sound of the whop whop whop of a Huey's far off blades always meant help or trouble toRead More every one who heard them? That sound always made me stop to discern if I was hearing automatic heavy weapon fire. To this very day that sound gets my attention day or night awake or asleep.

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

The U.S. tested atomic weapons out west and gave countless people cancer. They gave black menRead More syphilis a while back just to watch the course of the disease. It would be nice to think that the chem trail notion is a joke, but there are some intelligent people out there who are quite convinced there is something to it. Frankly, nothing would surprise me.
sha April 19, 2014 at 09:44 am
In the 1940s if one said cigarettes cause cancer the response would have been just like yours,Read More Hookerman. Not so funny now that we know the companies KNEW that but hid it from the public. My father in law was a smoker, got hooked, and died from lung cancer.

Today’s Daily Record has an interview with Suzanne Buchanan, who is executive director ofRead More Autism NJ. It’s an interesting read, but a couple of points. When she is asked about the number of those diagnosed, she answers; “…the CDC’s most recent study identified all children who met the diagnostic criteria. Many of them had a formal diagnosis, and some did not”. Later, she is asked about the diagnostic criteria, and she answers; “Differentiating autism from other disorders, such as ADHD, OCD, and Anxiety Disorder requires a thorough diagnostic evaluation by a physician or psychologist with autism expertise”. So, without a full diagnostic evaluation, autism very well may be misdiagnosed, and she admits earlier than some who fall into the autism statistics never were formally diagnosed to begin with. To me, that means that the numbers are probably much higher than they actually are.
The northbound travel lanes on the Route 1&9 Pulaski Skyway will be closed for approximately 24 months while the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) rehabilitates the bridge deck.
Linda Maloney April 13, 2014 at 10:09 am
It's about time they started to make repairs on the Pulaski Skyway, it's been literally fallingRead More apart for years! I heard there is even some controversy with the Port of Authority paying for much of this renovation. It is an access road to the Holland Tunnel, but The Port of Authority isn't responsible for The Holland Tunnel roadways because The Holland Tunnel was there before The POA. I guess the gov. and his people do whatever they want with his own little slush fund(POA).
Marlboro Mann April 13, 2014 at 08:50 pm
Lets hear it for the NJDOT. They could have started the work on Christmas, Palm Sunday, or AshRead More wednesday, but they chose instead to begin the chaos on the first day of Passover thus ensuring that the large percentage of Jewish workers arrive late at work but most importantly arrive home long after the sedars are to begin. Anti Semitism? NO Piss Poor Planning? Yes!

Patch, you're selling out. Let this family figure out their junk without gawkers. You can do betterRead More than this - this is NOT news, it's sensationalism.
MissElanyS April 17, 2014 at 08:49 am
@triptakers, what do you expect from the Patch? @ OE Defending him or merely telling you of my experience in attending 2 Town Halls? My ownRead More experience is that although like others here, I disagree on some political points, I found him surprisingly accessible. After one of the events, he actually chatted with THE PEOPLE afterward in the parking lot, and although I'm a nobody, even I was afforded an opportunity to have a brief exchange with him out there, about an issue I was concerned about. This article in no way resembled my own experience at either of the events I've attended. Just sayin....
ER April 10, 2014 at 01:16 am
p.s. One of the reasons he stayed to chat with THE PEOPLE outside the venue, was that theRead More attendance was so beyond what they had expected, many folks did not get into the building and he felt bad they had come to the event and the place wasn't big enough to hold them all.

genesko, my heart goes out to you. I've done most of this on my own. Until someone actually has aRead More child with a disability, they will never truly understand. I can respect that. Had my son not had the stroke, and the severity of the Autism did not subside, I don't know how I would of made it. CHOP Neurological never could explain how the severity subsided. Just Luck. A trade off if you will. My Son drives, yes, but sometimes his emotions overwhelm him. He has learned how to recognize that, and he knows to call me first. But the Joys are great. He can read other's clues for social interaction, and he is always improving there. But again, a lot of work at home was required. I know depending on the severity of the situation, it may never improve. Regarding the group homes, you are right. 20 year waiting list. I'm reminded of my Late Dad's best friend who's oldest son is Autistic. He is now about 57, living in a home. He was lucky. His parents were very upper middle class. They were able to afford what was needed and was able to see to it. Unfortunately today, many of us cannot earn the incomes of our parents with the health benefits that they had. The best advice I can give you, which I am certain that you know, is to keep your children close. Raise them to appreciate and love each other. So as we go to the great beyond, we may hope our disabled children will still be loved and looked after by their siblings. A burden their brother's and sisters never asked for. But a love and appreciation of life and for life, that perhaps most in our country today seem to lack.

Now Read This: ...the Louisiana Senate race will be a test of the old proposition that elections areRead More won by bringing home the bacon, and Landrieu has always argued that she "delivers" In the coming campaign she'll cite the millions and millions of federal dollars she has brought to the state like it's no accident that St. Tammany Parish is feeling a lot of Landrieu love these days. "The St. Tammany Parish school district is getting $67.8 million in disaster loans and accumulated interest for Hurricane Katrina forgiven by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Sen. Mary Landrieu's office announced Monday. The announcement follows FEMA's earlier decision to cancel a $9.9 million loan for the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office and a $14.5 million loan to the St. Tammany Parish government." Landrieu, it turns out, inserted a loan forgiveness provision into the 2013 Homeland Security Appropriations bill -- a move that will likely mean future forgiveness for even more Katrina loans. Remember her when you get your flood insurance bill to pay for all those forgiven Katrina loans...

During training, editor trainees including myself were told Patch was going to focus onRead More "hyperlocal NEWS." But when some of us heard questions from some trainees such as "what do you mean by a news beat?," we realized they weren't necessarily focused on hiring journalists.
