9th Annual Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Coming to Wyckoff

Event Saturday includes live music, children's face painting, exhibits and information from special needs organizations, games, giveaways, prizes, and food.

The following information was submitted to Patch by the Wyckoff YMCA.

The Wyckoff Family YMCA and the Northern NJ Down Syndrome Alliance are pleased to present the ninth annual Bergen Buddy Walk on Saturday, October 5 (rain or shine) at the Wyckoff Family YMCA.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the walk will begin at 11 a.m.

The Buddy Walk has three primary goals:
  • To promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome
  • To raise funds both locally and nationally for education, research, and advocacy programs
  • To enhance the position of the Down syndrome community

The Walk raises support for research and education as well as the Billy’s Buddies and Shining Star Express programs offered by the Wyckoff Family YMCA.

Some of the day’s events include: live music, a real fire truck to explore, children’s face painting, exhibits and information from special needs organizations, games, giveaways, prizes, and food as well as the one-mile “Buddy Walk.”

Please note, the Y will be closed for regular business during the Buddy Walk.  Revised Y operating hours will be 2-8:30pm.
