Find out when you should place your tree at the curb.

Now that Christmas, New Year’s, and the first official snowfall of 2014 are over, the holiday season is history. Both Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes are accommodating locals throwing away their Christmas trees with dedicated tree pick-ups starting this week.

The tree collection will start in District 1 and proceed through District 8. The second and final round is tentatively scheduled to start on Jan. 13. Residents may also bring their Christmas trees to the Recycling and Conservation Center on West Main Street between 9am - 3pm Monday through Saturday. The trees should NOT be wrapped in plastic nor placed in plastic bags.

The discarded trees are chipped and the chips will be available to Wyckoff residents in the spring at the Recycling/Conservation Center.

Christmas trees will NOT be collected by the regular trash collectors. After the conclusion of the special collection period, residents must bring discarded trees to the Recycling Center at 475 West Main Street.

Since this is the "prime time" for snow and the primary responsibility of the DPW during the winter is sanding and plowing Township roads, Christmas tree pickup will be suspended for inclement weather.

Franklin Lakes

Thursday, Jan. 9 and Thursday, Jan. 23
Christmas trees will be picked up curbside. Place Christmas trees at the curb no earlier than 3:00 PM the evening before or no later than 6:00 AM the morning of the collection. Do not place trees in plastic bags and remove ornaments. Trees in plastic bags cannot be recycled.
