The following press release was submitted by The Christopher Brandle Joy of Life Foundation:
The Christopher Brandle Joy of Life Foundation is pleased to announce its third annual "Rock Out” event on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012. The event will take place from 2-7 p.m. at the Oakland recreation field located at Lawlor Drive.
Proceeds from this event will go to organizations dedicated to pediatric brain tumor research.
The ”Rock Out” event will be a day of fun, music, food and games for the entire family. This family fun day will feature live music from Steve Brown and the Fallout, a dunk tank, and a 50/50 raffle. New to the event this year are mini sports clinics featuring cheerleading, soccer, lacrosse, football and hockey. All inclusive ticket prices are $15 for adults; $10 for kids 12 and under and can be purchased on the foundation's website www.cbjoyoflife.org. Tickets may also be purchased at the recreation field the day of the event. Sponsorships for the event are available.
The Christopher Brandle Joy of Life Foundation was created in April, 2010, to honor the life and memory of Christopher Brandle, who passed away from medulloblastoma, a form of pediatric brain cancer on March 31, 2010. The main purpose of the foundation is to provide charitable contributions to organizations dedicated to pediatric brain tumor research, primarily focusing on medulloblastoma. In addition, the foundation provides financial assistance to families that are struggling with the costs of caring for a child stricken with a pediatric brain tumor.
“Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant central nervous system tumor found in children, accounting for 15-20 percent of all pediatric brain tumors,” said Foundation President Brian Brandle. “It is the goal of our Foundation to support research to help clinicians treat and better understand Medulloblastoma so other children do not have to go through what Christopher did.”
