Ramapo Football Headed to Playoffs in Style

District officials say the Raiders could be back-to-back champs.

The NJSIAA football playoffs start Friday, and the Raiders are poised to show off their skills in a first-round game Saturday afternoon.

Ramapo will take on Garfield in the Section 1, Group 3 first round game at home Saturday at 1 p.m.

Ramapo Athletic Director Ron Anello said he is confident in the team’s chances heading into the playoffs.

“Anytime a team advances to the playoffs, it's exciting,” he said.

Despite the fact that most of the team that won the Section 1, Group 3 championship last year graduated, Anello said he “absolutely” thinks this year’s team could go for a repeat win.

“It’s a young team…but we have an outstanding football team and program,” Anello said. “We have very high expectations athletically, and the kids understand that.”
