Native Wyckoff Golfer Starts Barclays Tournament

Morgan Hoffmann came back to Jersey to begin the Barclays tournament on Thursday.

Expectations are high for Morgan Hoffmann as the 23-year-old Wyckoff native kicks off a return to New Jersey in the Barclays Tournament at Jersey City's Liberty National Golf Course.

Hoffmann made his homecoming this week, taking time to meet with fans before the tournament kicked off Thursday.

The golfer has had a rigorous schedule since earning his tour card last year, and in an interview with Patch last month the newly minted pro said he was confident that, with friends and family close by, he would be up on his game for the face-off with the PGA's biggest names.

And golf watchers agree. ESPN termed little-known Hoffmann a "super sleeper," expecting the Oklahoma State grad to "make some noise" in the tournament this week.

After a day on the links, Hoffmann is keeping up. He is currently tied for 13th place out the 123 competitors, a stroke behind the likes of Tiger Woods.

Keep up on Hoffmann's ranking in the tournament, which runs until Aug. 25, here.
