Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes Schools Closed Wednesday

Schools are closed as forecasters are calling for snow Wednesday morning and freezing temperatures all day.

After early dismissals Tuesday, students in Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes will be staying home Wednesday.

Both the township and borough K-8 districts, and Ramapo Indian Hills, announced school is canceled Wednesday, due to inclement weather.

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for snow to wrap up in the morning, but blowing snow and freezing temperatures to continue throughout the day:

  • Tuesday Night: Snow with widespread blowing snow before 3am, then widespread blowing snow and a chance of snow after 3am. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 3. Wind chill values as low as -16. North wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
  • Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 16. Wind chill values as low as -10. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -3. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 20. Wind chill values as low as -7. Light northwest wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning.
