Woodside Ave. Students Elect New Mascot

The Franklin Lakes school held an election of its own this Tuesday.

The following release was submitted to Patch by Franklin Lakes Schools.

November 5th was a very special day at Woodside Avenue School in Franklin Lakes. It was Election Day and the students along with all of the residents in New Jersey had an opportunity to cast their vote.

The children have heard many people talk about voting and discussing either candidates who are running for office or important issues. The children learned that voting may be the most important right for Americans because there are many places in the world where people do not have the right to vote.

The students of Woodside Avenue School did not weigh in on who would will be the next Governor of New Jersey, but they were able to participate in an extremely special election, for a school mascot.

The mascot will be an animal or image that will represent Woodside on future T-shirts, during sporting events, and even on the school stationery. The fifth grade students provided the whole school with some great choices including a Woodside Wizard, a Woodside Stallion, a Woodside Warrior, a Woodside Wolf and a Woodside Cheetah.

The winner of our Woodside election is "The Woodside Wolf."

Congratulations to the students of Woodside for having their voices heard and congratulations to The Woodside Wolf!
