Ramapo Students Score Wyckoff Education Association Scholarships

Two students won $1,500 each.

The following was submitted to Patch by the Wyckoff Education Association.

The Wyckoff Education Association, a professional organization comprised of faculty and staff of the Wyckoff Public Schools, is pleased to announce the recipients of their 4th annual scholarship for graduating high school seniors. 

 The WEA 2014 winners were presented with a plaque and a $1,500 scholarship at an awards program held June 2. The scholarships were awarded to two students who attended the Wyckoff Public Schools, one of whom is also the daughter of a WEA member.

Julia Perry, daughter of WEA member Mary Beth Perry attended the Wyckoff schools and will graduate from Ramapo High School. She worked very hard to become a competitive swimmer and challenged herself at Ramapo by taking honors courses. She has demonstrated leadership by becoming involved in SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and has seen a positive result in the community as a result of her initiative. Julia will attend Lehigh University in the fall.

Timothy Sander attended Lincoln School and Eisenhower Middle School. He will graduate from Ramapo High School in June and head to the University of Virginia in late August where he will continue his involvement in Marching Band, playing among other instruments, the tuba. He served as a section leader in the Ramapo Marching Band, was captain of the Academic Decathlon, completed numerous honors and AP classes, and began a tutoring business which helps many Wyckoff students review and master key math skills.

The WEA congratulates Julia and Timothy, and wishes all 2014 graduating high school seniors the best in their future endeavors.
