Ramapo Marching Band to Represent NJ in National Memorial Day Parade

Students will be marching in parade Monday in Washington, DC.

The Ramapo Raider Marching Band is taking a national stage this Memorial Day.

According to a release from Ramapo Band Director Jackie Sarracco, the band has been chosen to represent the state of New Jersey in the 2014 National Memorial Day Parade.

Governor Chris Christie and Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. nominated the Ramapo band, which was chosen based on those recommendations and its past achievements, Sarracco said.

The parade, which walks down Constitution Avenue, is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of spectators.

The parade will also include military units, marching bands, veterans groups, military vehicles, flag teams, and patriotic floats.

According to the National Memorial Day Parade website, celebrities slated to make an appearance at the parade include actor Gary Sinise, singer Kristian Bush of the band Sugarland, and Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri.
