Franklin Lakes Commends New Curriculum Director

New director was appointed over the summer.

The following release was submitted to Patch by the Franklin Lakes Board of Education.

To the Editor,

By all reports, Ann Jameson, the Franklin Lakes School District's new Director of Curriculum and Instruction has hit the ground running.

Ms. Jameson, as a former  teacher in the District, brings that perspective to the challenges facing all of the District's teachers as the new state-wide evaluation initiatives are implemented. The President of the Franklin Lakes Education Association on behalf of the membership stated in a recent communication with the Board that "Ann's presence and visibility in our buildings has been a source of continued reassurance to staff members...Her experience in the classroom is an enormous asset. Ann has begun leading our district in the right direction, and has made choices that will not only benefit our staff, but most importantly, our students."

The Board joins with the Association in its support of Ann Jameson as she undertakes the challenges of furthering the implementation of major curriculum and instruction adoptions and revisions which will enable our students to not only compete, but to excel as 21st century learners.

The Board also wishes to again thank all the administrators and teachers who have worked so hard and have helped make this transition so smooth and successful.

Editor's Note: Jameson was appointed in August after the controversial Board decision not to renew Curriculum Director Cheryl Best's contract in May. The search to find a new curriculum director included 55 applicants for the job.
