Kathy Bowers and John Carolan have earned two contested seats on the Wyckoff K-8 Board of Education, according to unofficial numbers provided by town hall Tuesday night.
Kathy Bowers was the top vote-getter with 1,704 votes, followed by John Carolan with 1,658 votes, incumbent Christopher Della Pietra with 895 votes, and Robert Buono taking up the rear with 847 votes.
Danielle Swenson, who was running unopposed for a one-year term for the seat that Della Pietra is currently filling, earned 2,702 votes and will join Bowers and Carolan on the board next year.
Bowers is a former Eisenhower Middle School teacher and Washington Elementary School teacher. She was also the Director of Christian education at the Wyckoff Reformed Church, where she wrote curriculum for Reformed Church Publishers.
Carolan, 45, has two children in the Wyckoff schools, and works at Pfizer as the Director of Business Operations for the U.S. Marketing Group.
Della Pietra, who was defeated on Election Day, has been a member of the Wyckoff Board of Education since September 2011, and serves as the chair of both the facilities and finance committees.
