Planning Board to Discuss ShopRite Tonight

The board may take "formal action" at this special meeting.

The Wyckoff Planning Board is holding a special meeting tonight to hear continuing testimony about Inserra Supermarkets' application to build a ShopRite at the site of the old A&P.

If approved, Inserra Supermarkets would demolish the A&P building and build a new 62,174-square-foot store on the site. The owners of the neighboring Stop & Shop and Boulder Run have each hired attorneys to object to the plan, which has resulted in considerable legal entanglement.

, Inserra's operations expert Joseph Pagano explained what the average day at the store would be like. According to Pagano, the store would be open from 7 a.m. to midnight seven days a week and have as many as 80 employees working during peak hours. About five tractor trailers and 40 smaller vendor trucks would make deliveries to the store.
