Franklin Lakes Installing 'Pet Waste Stations'

Borough residents face up to $1,000 fines if the violate pet waste disposal laws.

Dog owners in Franklin Lakes will soon have a new way to deal with their pets’ messes.

The borough announced on its website this week that it is in the midst of installing “pet waste stations” throughout the town. In the announcement, officials said they are urging residents to use the new stations to properly dispose of pet waste.

“Pet owners and keepers are required to immediately and properly dispose of their pet's solid waste deposited on any property, public or private, not owned or possessed by that person,” the borough reminded residents in the announcement.
