1,000-Foot Trail Coming to Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve

Project will likely be completely by June, report says.

The Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve is about to become more accessible, thanks to the anticipated construction of a trail running through it.

According to a NorthJersey.com report, the borough recently awarded a bid to build a handicapped-accessible trail through the Preserve to the Forcellati Bros. of River Vale.

The trail is set to include boardwalks and will be ADA compliant, the report said.

The trail, which will be more than 1,000 feet long, will cost the borough $101,474, part of which will be paid for by county open space grants, the report said.

The project will likely be completed by June, the report said.
