Wyckoff Woman Charged with DWI After Route 208 Accident

The driver of another car suffered minor injuries from the two-car accident, police said.

A Wyckoff woman faces DWI charges after a weekend accident on Route 208 that sent the driver of another car to the hospital, police said.

According to Franklin Lakes police, Alana Nixon, 21, was driving northbound near the Wyckoff border on 208 around 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon when she rear-ended a vehicle in the left lane.

Nixon’s car spun out of control after the collision and crashed into the concrete divider, according to investigators.

She and a passenger were unscathed in the accident, but the driver of the other car, a 71-year-old woman, was taken to Chilton Hospital in Pompton Plains for treatment to minor injuries, police said.

Franklin Lakes Sgt. Carmine Pezzuti and Officers Robert Lyon, Robert Smith, and Denny Knubel, responding to the accident, determined that Nixon was intoxicated at the time.

She was arrested and charged with DWI and reckless driving, according to a police department release.
