Woman Lured Ex-Boyfriend to Wyckoff School for Vicious Beating, Police Say

A Wyckoff woman is facing charges for allegedly luring an ex-boyfriend to a vacant schoolyard where two men beat him bloody with a bat and a pipe before robbing him.

Margaux H. Tocci, of Sicomac Avenue, was charged Friday with robbery and theft by being armed with deadly weapons, by aiding suspects and luring the victim to the scene of the crime, and providing transportation from the scene for the suspects. She was remanded to Bergen County Jail in Hackensack in lieu of $50,000 bail for the alleged crime, a first-degree charge.

According to Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox, Tocci called the victim, a 19-year-old Ridgewood man described as an ex-boyfriend, and asked if he wanted to drive around in a new car she had recently purchased. Fox said Tocci brought him to at around 10:30 p.m. under the guise they would go for a walk.

"He was then approached by two males, in their late teens or early twenties, carrying a baseball bat and a pipe," Fox said. "The men beat him as Tocci allegedly watched. The men took his wallet and removed the cash, as well as his cell phone that they smashed. The victim was left bleeding on the ground, and the men got into Tocci's car and she drove them away."

The Ridgewood victim made it to the home of a nearby resident who called 911. He was transported to the hospital with head injuries that required stitches, and was later released.

Police said a blue Ford Fusion matching the description of the vehicle at the scene of the attack was spotted on Franklin Avenue at around 3 a.m. 

Tocci, the only occupant, was taken to headquarters and subsequently charged, Fox said. She did not provide information on the two men believed to have perpetrated the attack, according to the chief, and the investigation remains ongoing.

"The department is committed to fully investigating and apprehending the other two individuals involved in this violent, apparently premeditated assault," Fox said.

Those who choose to exact violence on others "do so at their peril," Fox said.

"We're absolutely committing manpower to apprehending the individuals involved," he said.

The attack is the second this month involving teens with baseball bats and other objects.

An was arrested and charged in July for allegedly beating a group of men to whom he reportedly owed money.
