Wyckoff Updates Town Fire Zones

An ordinance passed Tuesday night adds six new fire zones

The Wyckoff Township Committee approved a new ordinance at their meeting Tuesday night which adds six new fire zones to the town.

The new areas include Rockledge Shopping Center, Apple Tree Day Care, Eisenhower Middle School, Eastern Christian Children's Retreat, Christian Health Care Center and Wyckoff Shopping Center.

According to Wyckoff Fire Department Chief Mike Rose, the ordinance was amended to meet modern standards, as well as address some of the property updates in the last several years. Some of these areas were already treated as fire zones and the revised ordinance now reflects those changes.  According to Rose, the changes will allow fire apparatus proper access to these buildings in the event of a fire or rescue situation.

The ordinance already covered Boulder Run Shopping Center, Cedar Hill Avenue Shopping Center and Greenwood Avenue Shopping Center. The law bans parking in areas designated by signs or pavement stripes as fire zones.
