Update: Traffic Flowing on Franklin Avenue

Travel no longer impacted from underground storm drain replacement

Update, 5 p.m.: Traffic is again flowing along Franklin Avenue, just in time for the evening rush.

Police officers are no longer limiting alternate lanes of travel, as crews doing work at the railroad tracks across from the Main Street/Franklin Avenue intersection have wrapped up their work. The area in question has been coned off, slightly limiting the width of the road, although traffic is moving without delays.

Traffic is slow through downtown as construction crews work to replace an underground storm drain at the railroad tracks adjacent to Memorial Town Hall.

Travel is restricted to one lane at a time, with two police officers alternating lanes of traffic as county and New York Susquehanna & Western Railway employees work directly across from the Main Street and Franklin Avenue intersection.

Motorists coming up or down Franklin as well as those seeking to access Boulder Run and nearby businesses from Main Street are experiencing delays. Traffic frequently comes to a total standstill when construction trucks move away from the tracks, temporarily blocking any access on Franklin. Traffic is slow to at least Godwin Avenue, toward Waldwick, and Wyckoff Avenue, toward Franklin Lakes.

Traffic is expected to be restricted until 7 p.m. Unless rain forces crews to abandon the job, the storm drain work is expected to be completed today.
