Wanted Wyckoff Man Captured in Canada

FBI: Suspect will be extradited on money laundering, narcotics, gun charges

A Wyckoff man wanted in connection with an alleged Balkan criminal enterprise has been captured in Canada.

Myfit Dika, 44, was arrested Monday by the Toronto Fugitive Task Force in Toronto, Canada, said FBI spokesman Special Agent Bryan Travers. A fugitive, Dika faces extradition to the United States.

Dika had been one of four fugitives on the run after 22 members of the alleged criminal enterprise were arrested last year on charges of narcotics and firearms trafficking, money laundering, interstate transportation of stolen property and criminal conspiracy, Travers said. Of the four wanted men, only one (Kujtim "Timmy" Lika) remains at large after a suspect was arrested in November in Albania and another surrendered to the FBI in December.

Dika was being tracked by the Toronto Fugitive Task Force when he was captured after a motor vehicle stop Monday. He initially gave officers false information but later revealed his actual identity, the FBI said.

The Wyckoff man and Lika had been featured in a November episode of Fox's "America's Most Wanted," which the FBI credits with helping to lead to Dika's capture. While authorities did not have a direct lead, information garnered from tips called into the show helped lead the task force to Dika, Travers said.

"It's very difficult to hide when you are being hunted virtually everywhere in the world," FBI Special Agent Kevin Cruise said. "Between the cooperation of global law enforcement and the media, it was only a matter of time before we caught Mr. Dika. Our focus is now on Kujtim Lika. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the FBI at 973-792-3000," Cruise said.

The agent credited several law enforcement agencies with helping to find Dika, including: the Toronto Fugitive Task Force, the Albanian State Police, the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the DEA offices in Canada and Amsterdam, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Dutch law enforcement and various municipal law enforcement agencies.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David Malagold at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark under the direction of U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman.
