Waldwick Teen Charged With Drunken Driving

Police investigate phony fire claim, pizza shop break-in

A Waldwick teen faces multiple charges after a traffic stop on Aug. 31.

Police said they observed a car being driven without illuminated headlights by a 17-year-old male on Franklin Avenue at 12:08 a.m. The teen also was allegedly swerving down the road, police said, prompting a stop at Franklin and Everett avenues.

The subsequent investigation led by Patrolman Brian Zivkovich determined that the teen, who had recently obtained his driver's license, was intoxicated, police said. He was charged with drunken driving, driving without his headlights illuminated, operating a motor vehicle in violation of a provisional license and driving on a provisional license without displaying the requisite red sticker on his license plate.
