Two Charged in Morning Burglary Attempt
Police: Resident came downstairs to find burglar smashing rear door with rock
Two suspects are in the Bergen County Jail after police said they attempted to burglarize a home Friday morning.
William T. Dolan, 38, of Morristown and Carey A. Graves, 36, of Wayne were charged with burglary by Wyckoff police after the pair allegedly attempted to gain entry to a Caldwell Drive home that was occupied by the resident, authorities said.
The resident called police at 11:10 a.m. and stated that someone was attempting to break into her house. Police said her doorbell was rung earlier, but she was unable to get to the door. Shortly thereafter, the resident came downstairs to find Dolan smashing her rear door open with a rock, police said. His realization that someone was home caused him to flee, police said.

Wyckoff Detective Michael Musto began to search the immediate neighborhood and said he saw a man exit a yard further up Caldwell Drive and get into a vehicle driven by Graves. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested both suspects.
The ensuing investigation determined that Dolan, who police said has an "extensive criminal record," had an active warrant for his arrest on burglary charges out of Somerset County. Dolan was committed to the county jail on $25,000 bail, and Graves on $10,000 bail.
