Teen Charged With Hosting Drinking Party

Franklin Lakes man accused of trying to force way into wife's apartment

Wyckoff police recorded the following arrests recently:

  • An Upper Saddle River girl was charged after police said she used her father's Wyckoff home for an underage drinking party.

Sgt. Michael Ragucci and Patrolman Ryan Tenney responded to a Fieldstone Terrace home at approximately 11:47 p.m. Nov. 7 on a report of a loud party. They said about 30 teenagers fled the house, via doors and windows, at the sight of the police.

Ragucci and Tenney said a 16-year-old girl had used her father's house to host friends and drink. Alcohol was found "strewn around the house," police said.

The girl and another 16-year-old girl from Upper Saddle River were both transported to the hospital due to high levels of intoxication, police said. The girl whose father owns the home was charged on a juvenile complaint with making property available so that minors can consume alcohol.

  • A Franklin Lakes man was charged on Nov. 14 with trying to force his way into his wife's apartment.

A Main Street apartment dweller called police that day to report a man allegedly trying to break into a neighbor's apartment. Sgt. Robert Mackay, Ragucci and Patrolman Kevin Kasak responded, where they found a 23-year-old man who had apparently separated from his 21-year-old wife a few weeks prior. The wife had moved in with her parents; the Franklin Lakes man allegedly confronted his father-in-law, who tried to take his keys to the apartment.

  • Police also investigated a domestic violence incident the morning of Nov. 14 that resulted in the arrest of a Wyckoff teen.

Police said an 18-year-old male smashed windows in his mother's home and broke stair banisters before fleeing the house. The mother also said the teen had threatened her following an argument over his alleged addiction to drugs.

Authorities found the teen several hours later and charged him with assault and criminal mischief. An investigation is ongoing into items that may have been stolen and pawned for cash.

Mackay, Ragucci, Kasak and Sgt. Daniel Kellogg investigated.

  • A Franklin Lakes teen was arrested on drug charges on the afternoon of Nov. 12.

Police said Ragucci investigated a "suspicious" vehicle parked at the intersection of Carlton Road and Concord Place at 3:30 p.m. that day. Ragucci said the occupant of the car, Jason M. Caulfield, 18, was in possession of marijuana. He was charged and is scheduled to appear in Municipal Court on Dec. 10.
