Teaneck Man Charged in Franklin Lakes Burglary

Shakir Major was charged with burglary Wednesday following an alleged April jewelry heist.

A Teaneck man already being held in county jail has been charged with stealing cash and jewelry during a Franklin Lakes burglary last month, police said Thursday.

Shakir Major, 26, allegedly entered an Arapaho Trail house while the homeowner was out for several hours the afternoon of April 29. Police say he went through an unlocked back door and rifled through the house's bedrooms, stealing an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry.

Major was arrested earlier this month by a Bergen County Prosector's Office-led task force, and was being held at the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail when the charges were filed Wednesday, police said.
