Sewer Work to Close Russell Ave. For a Week

Cedar Hill also will be partially closed; both jobs start Tuesday

Sanitary sewer work will close much of Russell Avenue to motorists starting Tuesday.

The road will be closed from Wyckoff Avenue to the Route 208 interchange to allow the Matina & Sons Construction Company to extend the sewer main to five homes. The project, which is privately funded, will close the road from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and is anticipated to last seven business days, until Wednesday, Sept. 8, police Chief Benjamin Fox said.

Work is not expected to last into evenings, unless an emergency situation requires it. Russell will reopen each day after 6 p.m.

The work will be concentrated between Stonybrook Lane and Helena Avenue, Fox said.

Motorists will be directed to follow posted signs detailing detour routes. Fox said all residents will have access to their homes, and emergency vehicles will be permitted to access the road, if necessary. Residents will be able to get home via the Route 208 or Wyckoff Avenue approaches, but not both. The township administration said motorists should anticipate delays and plan an alternate route, if possible.

Cedar Hill Closure

Traveling through Wyckoff on Tuesday also will be complicated by a road closure on Cedar Hill Avenue.

The thoroughfare will be closed from Wyckoff Avenue to Newtown Road from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow Bergen County crews to repair the safety grip road surface.

The detour route will be: Wyckoff Avenue to Goffle Road; Goffle to Godwin Avenue, ending at Godwin and Central avenues in Midland Park. The same route will be reversed for motorists heading from Midland Park to Wyckoff.
