Resident Charged with Stealing Vodka

Mahwah man accused of DWI after traffic stop

Wyckoff police recorded the following arrests and reports recently:

  • A township resident and Teaneck man were arrested Jan. 3 on charges of stealing from Wine and Spirit World.

Alyssa H. Cohen, 26, of Wyckoff and Keith W. Lester, 39, of Teaneck were charged with shoplifting after police said they stole two bottles of vodka from the Franklin Avenue store.

Lester faced $2,000 bail after police also charged him with providing false information so as to hinder his own arrest. Authorities said he claimed to be another person, and a fingerprint check revealed his true identity. Cohen was released on her own recognizance.

  • A Mahwah man was arrested Jan. 21 on a drunken driving charge.

Police said Richard Kunz, 30, was pulled over after traveling 79 mph on Route 208 at 2:41 a.m. that day. A subsequent investigation revealed that Kunz was intoxicated, police said.

Sgt. Michael Ragucci charged Kunz with DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test, speeding, failure to exhibit documents and reckless driving. Kunz is scheduled to appear in Municipal Court on Feb. 11.

  • Police sergeants Robert Mackay and Michael Ragucci investigated an attempted burglary on Jan. 15.

The sergeants were responding to an activated alarm from a Meadowbrook Road home at 5:50 p.m. They said they found a window broken out on the home's rear door. A muddy footprint was on the door, police said, but entry was not gained to the house. Nothing was reported stolen.
