Car Takes Out Pole Near Rt. 208 and Russell Ave.

Woman was uninjured after driving over a curb and hitting a light pole

The driver of a Nissan SUV escaped injury on Tuesday morning during a crash on the exit ramp from Route 208 southbound to Russell Avenue in Wyckoff, a photographer on the scene said. The driver apparently lost control of her vehicle while exiting Route 208, mounted a curb, knocked down a light pole, drove through a wall of shrubbery, and finally came to a stop in a muddy field.

Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes police officers assisted the elderly woman from her vehicle and into a waiting police car, the witness said. There were no other occupants in her vehicle at the time of the crash. The Nissan SUV was towed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox confirmed that there were no injuries as a result of the one-car crash. The female driver told police that she "lost control" of the car, Fox told Patch.
