Police: Woman Tries to Pay with Bogus Bills, Flees Walgreens

Wyckoff cops say they are looking for a woman who they say tried to use three $20 bills with the same serial number at a township store.

Wyckoff Police are looking for a local shopper they say tried to use counterfeit money to buy gift cards at the Wyckoff Avenue Walgreens last Friday.

According to a release from Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox, a Walgreens cashier thought three $20 bills a woman attempted to use to pay for the gift cards, “looked suspicious.”

When the clerk went to her supervisor to show him the money, the woman ran out of the store, Fox said.

Walgreen’s employees later realized that all of the bills had the same serial number on them, and were in fact, counterfeit, police said.

The woman attempting to use the fake money is described as a white female between 25 and 30 years old, police said.
