Police Investigating Robbery at Hartgers

Police were at Hartgers Jewelers this afternoon investigating a robbery.

Authorities were called after a male allegedly stole a Rolex watch from the Wyckoff Avenue store near 3 p.m., according to police communications and a witness at the scene.

A witness in the store said the suspect asked to try on a watch and then fled the store to a waiting car. Police communications described him as wearing a black shirt and pants.

However, authorities soon stopped a car in connection with the robbery, police communications stated. It is not yet known if the motorist was indeed the suspect or whether he will be charged in connection with the robbery.

Authorities, including Chief Benjamin Fox, were processing the scene as of 3:45 p.m. The chief and ownership declined comment as they conduct their investigation.
