Police: Drunken NY Man Crashes into Rock Wall, Flips Car in Wyckoff

The man was charged with a DWI, having an open container and several other offenses, police said.

A New York man was charged with drunk driving after he veered off Ravine Avenue in Wyckoff, struck a rock wall, and flipped his car over, Township Police Chief Benjamin Fox said Thursday.

According to Fox, cops responded to the crash at 6:42 p.m. last Monday and “safely removed” the man from his car. He was not seriously injured, police said.

After an investigation into the accident, James Valdivia, 41, of Florida, N.Y., was arrested and charged with a DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and failure to maintain his lane of travel, Fox said.

Valdivia has been released and is scheduled to appear in Wyckoff Municipal Court, police said.
