Police Blotter: DWI Arrests, Cars Burglarized

DWI suspect stopped going 85MPH on Rt. 208

 On March 5 at 2:20am, Ptl. Kevin Pinches stopped a vehicle clocked on radar on Route 208 north traveling 85 MPH. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver was also swerving outside of the lane of travel. Following the traffic stop, Ptl. Pinches arrested Gerald R. Kearney, 40, for DWI. Following a breath test Kearney was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding, reckless driving and failure to maintain his lane of travel. He was released to his father and will appear in municipal court.

 Also on March 5, at 11:39pm Wyckoff Police responded to a home on a report that a 17-year-old boy was highly intoxicated and possibly in need of medical assistance. The boy had been dropped off at his home by some friends after drinking heavily at a party. His parents correctly determined that his level of intoxication was so severe that he needed medical attention. He was transported to a hospital by the Wyckoff Volunteer Ambulance Corps and released the next day.  

On March 7, a Meadowbrook Road resident reported that they discovered that two vehicles parked in their driveway had been entered during the overnight hours. The vehicles, both unlocked, had a GPS unit taken from each. The items were valued at $400. Ptl. Brian Zivkovich investigated.

On February 28 at 12:07am, Ptl. Ryan Tenney observed a vehicle traveling on Wyckoff Avenue that was driving erratically and crossed the centerline. Following a traffic stop, Michael G. Howlett, 52, was arrested for DWI. Following a breath test he was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and reckless driving. He was released to a family member and is scheduled to appear in municipal court on March 30.

In an on-going investigation with the Franklin Lakes Police Department, on March 1st Det. Sgt. Joseph Soto arrested Gina M. Graziano, 40, after an investigation determined that Graziano allegedly had taken checks from mailboxes in Franklin Lakes in October 2010, altered the checks and cashed them at a Wyckoff TD Bank. She was charged with 2 counts of forgery on the checks valued at $274, presenting fraudulent checks to a bank, and theft. She was released in her own recognizance and the complaints have been referred to Bergen County Superior Court.

 On February 22, a Franklin Lakes woman reported that she lost her debit card while in the Boulder Run Shopping Center, and had since determined that the card had been used numerous times in Wyckoff, Mahwah and New York State. Det. Sgt  Joseph Soto conducted an extensive investigation, and through video tapes at some of the stores where the card was used, he was able to determine the identity of the individual involved.
Rodeco S. Liceralde Jr, 36 Avenue A, Mahwah, age 32; was arrested and charged with possession of a lost credit card and possession of a credit card to fraudulently obtain merchandise. Liceralde was released in his own recognizance. Both charges are a fourth degree crime and will be referred to Bergen County Superior Court.
