Police Blotter: Arrests Made for DWI, Stolen Credit Cards

Two Brooklyn women charged in credit card scam

According to the Wyckoff police a 40-year-old Mahwah man was arrested on March 11 after he was observed driving without headlights in the dark . At 8:45pm, Sgt. Jack McEwan observed the vehicle driving on Wyckoff Avenue near Main Street and stopped it a short distance away, and the subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Joseph M. Rutter for DWI. Rutter refused to submit to a breath test and was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, driving without insurance, driving with an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, and driving without headlights. He was released to a friend and is scheduled to appear in municipal court on March 30.

  • On March 15 at 3:45am, Wyckoff police said Ptl. Brenda Groslinger observed a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of Route 208 north near Russell Avenue. The subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of the driver, Carlos Loran, 34, of Passaic, who was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was released to a friend and will appear in municipal court.

  •  On March 16 at 3:45pm, Wyckoff Police said they responded to CVS Pharmacy, 293 Godwin Avenue; on a report that two individuals in the store were attempting to make a purchase with stolen credit cards. The investigation determined that Devon A. Perkins, of Brooklyn, NY, age 31; and Tiffany L. Meiklejohn, also of Brooklyn, NY, age 27; had attempted to purchase several items including two $500 gift cards. The credit card they were using for the purchase was fraudulent. 
    Following their arrest, two additional fraudulent credit cards were discovered.  They were both committed to the Bergen County Jail in default of $10,000 bail, and charged with possession of stolen property and theft. Det. Sgt. Joseph Soto, Sgt. Robert Mackay and Ptl. Michael DeMaio investigated.
